The Steinway Model L and O are the same size: 5′ 10 1/2” (180 cm) 4′ 6” wide, Introduced: 1900 (“O”), Introduced: 1923 (“L”) . The shape of the Model L tail is slightly wider. Neither model is superior. They have the same stringing scale and in the 2005, the Model L in the USA was replaced by the Model O to harmonize production between Germany and American factories.
