The connection of the player to the piano is very important. Nuanced control over every aspect of the piano hammer and damper is the objective. The action or ‘feel’ of a piano is a subject of great concern to most people. I will assert that these concerns are unfounded if you are working with an experienced action builder. A truly excellent action take more time than you would think. Not only do we take a lot of time to get it right, but a rebuilt piano is then subject to being ‘played in’ and re-regulated, as well as voiced. We own a machine that is used by factories to play in pianos and minimize the potentially expensive breaking-in period. We find that this not only helps us do our job more efficiently, but also gives the end user more confidence in the finished product.
